Trend Micro’s PC-cillin antivirus software and Zone Lab’s ZoneAlarm™ Pro Internet security utility is now available for download for Linksys 1- and 4-Port Routers

Irvine, Cupertino, San Francisco, CA – September 26, 2001 – Networking, antivirus and Internet security leaders Linksys®, Trend Micro Inc. (Nasdaq: TMIC; TSE: 4704), and Zone Labs, today announced the immediate availability of enhanced security and antivirus protection options for Linksys 1-port and 4-port broadband router (BEFSR11 and BEFSR41) customers at more than 70% off regular prices. In addition, Linksys plans to incorporate the download feature options of PC-cillin® and ZoneAlarm™ Pro into the set-up process of its router and wireless router lines.

As announced earlier this year, the three leaders joined forces to provide an easy, affordable, and comprehensive way to further protect broadband-connected PCs from Internet intruders and thieves. The result is a specially priced offering of Trend Micro’s PC-cillin antivirus software and Zone Lab’s ZoneAlarm Pro Internet security utility which enhances the security features of the Linksys broadband router and 802.11b wireless router solutions. The complete broadband solution is designed to strengthen the security of each PC connected to the Linksys Cable/DSL router against security threats including targeted hacker attacks, spyware, Internet-borne Trojan horses, viruses and other malicious code. By combining these best-of-breed router, personal firewall and antivirus technologies, these industry leaders now offer one of the most complete, secure and affordable security solutions on the market.

Linksys router customers who download the specially priced security options will receive full versions of PC-cillin software and/or ZoneAlarm Pro. Customers may choose the enhanced security software bundles in packs of 4, 8, 25 and 50 user licenses. Only existing Linksys router or wireless router customers may take advantage of this offer. (The options are currently only available for 1 and 4-port routers – other Linksys models will incorporate the special pricing packages in the coming months.) Pricing and availability is as follows:

The cost of a single user license of Zone Lab’s ZoneAlarm Pro is priced at $39.95* for an annual license fee and Trend Micro’s PC-cillin is priced at $29.99* a user – making the cost savings for Linksys router customers a significant value.

*Prices are subject to change without notice.

Existing Linksys router customers may take advantage of the offerings by downloading the latest firmware for their particular router at Linksys’ website at http://www.linksys.com/download/za_firmware.asp. After downloading the firmware and upgrading the router to include the new firmware features, the router utility screen will direct customers to the Linksys, Trend Micro and Zone Labs Internet Security Center at http://www.linksys.trendmicro.zonelabs.com where they can obtain information and purchase PC-cillin and ZoneAlarm Pro.

Linksys will soon incorporate the download feature of PC-cillin and ZoneAlarm Pro into the setup process of EtherFast® 4-Port Cable/DSL Router (BEFSR41) and the EtherFast 1-Port Cable/DSL Router (BEFSR11) as well as the rest of the router and wireless router line so that customers may enhance their security options at the time of installation. If customers choose to ‘enable’ enhanced security for their network, the set-up options will direct them to the Internet Security Center where they can download and purchase the license packages of their choice.

“As the popularity of broadband connections continues to grow, businesses and home users are exposed to additional risks if their connection isn’t properly secured,” said Ross Fujimoto, Linksys senior manager of corporate and information technologies. “Linksys, Trend Micro and Zone Labs highly recommend that if users are connected to the Internet, that they have some form of Internet security. Combining all of our best of class hardware and software security products will provide the extra protection and peace of mind users need while connected to the Internet.”
